Ed 和 Shawn(謝世宏) 將說明Rights CoLab在台灣設立Freshwater Institute的計畫。 Freshwater Institute將會是一個扎根台灣、連接全球的公民團體。Freshwater Institute藉由促進亞太地區公民團體及青年領袖的串聯,尋求嶄新的公民參與的組織運動模式,以提升人權行動的影響力、韌性、及永續性。
他們將介紹 Rights CoLab 的工作,說明「重新想像公民社會」的意涵,為何此刻開展重新想像的重要性,並與台灣組織分享全球各區的公民社會創新案例。
他們也希望藉由互動交流的對談,能聽到台灣組織對重想像公民社會的看法及相關案例,進一步探討 Rights CoLab 與Freshwater Institute可以如何協助強化台灣公民社會與亞太區域公民團體的串聯及合作。

Reimagining Civil Society in the Asia-Pacific and Taiwan

Who: Ed Rekosh and Shawn Shieh 謝世宏, Rights CoLab. Rights CoLab is a global platform which advances human rights by fostering collaboration among experts across the fields of civil society, technology, business, and finance.
Language: English and Chinese (interpretation will be provided)
Ed and Shawn will be talking about their new project setting up Freshwater Institute, a locally-based, globally-connected CSO in Taiwan. Freshwater Institute will be facilitating connections with CSOs and young leaders in the Asia-Pacific to explore new ways of organizing civic engagement to improve the impact, resilience, and sustainability of human rights initiatives.
They will discuss the work of Rights Colab, what they mean by “reimagining civil society”, why it is important to do so now, and give examples of civil society innovation from different regions of the world.
They will also be asking for examples of how Taiwan is reimagining civil society, and what Rights Colab and Freshwater Institute can do to help to strengthen civil society in Taiwan and the rest of the Asia-Pacific.
